Waiting... waiting... waiting...

We went to Cinci this morning for our CD3 bloodwork and ultrasound. The good Doc had a new “good luck charm,” AKA an intern with him, and he let her do the ultrasound. Now for those of you who have never endured a transvaginal ultrasound, it’s NOT something you want done by someone with little or no experience. Let me just say, there’s a large “wand” involved. She found my uterus with no problem, but the ovaries were another story. She couldn’t find them! Now, I know I had them when I left the house this morning, and I don’t think they flew out the car window on the drive, so chances are, they’re in there somewhere! Eventually she located them and it was determined they looked happily at rest, which is a good thing.
And then the nurse tried to take my blood. For whatever reason, that turned into an ordeal as well. Two nurses, three sticks, two band-aids (I must say I liked the Scooby-Doo one best) and some digging later, they got their one measly vial of blood. Whew!
We went over my revised protocol. Basically, even though today is CD3, I will be starting my stims (Bravelle and Repronex) on Saturday, as if it were CD3. That way my retrieval is on a weekday. The new and improved estimated retrieval date is November 8th. At least I’ll get to vote before it all happens.
Down the hall we went for Mike’s own, shall we say, “retrieval.” You gotta like a room that has a dimmer switch for the lights and a small cabinet loaded with porn! There are magazines, and movies, and who knows what else! We still giggle about the fact that you can’t turn the lights up bright enough to see how to operate the TV/VCR.
After it was all said and done, we hit Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then the outlet mall. We just scoped out a few places and hit the road. We were too tired to shop! I haven’t been sleeping well, so I only got about 3 ½ hours last night, and the phone rang in the middle of that at 0530. Someone has their fax machine programmed with the wrong number. Argh!
My estradiol level came back normal at 23 today. We’re still waiting on Mike’s critical morphology analysis results, but they said they’d call when they came in. I’ll add them to this post when they’re in, so check back. See ya’s then!
